Muddy Waters - Long Distance Call
Crisp b&w footage from a performance at the 1968 Copenhagen Jazz Festival.
Muddy Waters - guitar & vocals, 'Pee Wee' Madison - guitar, Otis Spann - piano, Paul Oscher - harmonica, Sonny Wimberley - bass, S.P. Leary - drums
Another great track by Muddy Waters and the gang. I have been listening to Otis Spann lately which lead my over to Big Mama Thorton. Talk about some powerful and soulful material by both. Check out Otis Spann and Peter Green's Temperature Is Rising. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twfZb6uZZ9c
Also Big Mama Thornton live in Oregon 1971 with Rock Me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXoRljXZwK0
From these two you can go all over for the blues. Been following the blues since my youth in the late Sixties. Being born in Chicago in the early 1950's may have gotten into my bones.
I forgot to add earlier what a local blues DJ(Harvey Stauffer) out of the Elkhart, Indiana NPR affliliate WVPE-FM 88.1 said years ago on his weekend blues revue.
If you can't get into the blues, you must have a hole in your soul.
