Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo · Johnny Winter and Rick Derringer - Remembering Rick Derringer who Just died at 77
In the early 70's I was playing in the Sam Lay Blues Band and we opened for Johnny Winter and Rick Derringer. They were the loudest band I had ever heard at that time. Both guitar players had 10 fender Twins with the loudest speakers each have 2 SRO speakers. Each had 10 FenderTwins wired together with every dial at 10. Got to talk with Johnny and Rick after the show. Johnny stayed after with Sam's band and we played accoustic blues. Johnny had his National Steel Guitar, and we jamed and shared a fifth of Jack Daniels. I know that latter in his life Rick came to faith in Jesus Christ, so I look forward to seeing him again in heaven.
