Foot Of Pride - Bob Dylan

Foot Of Pride is an outtake from the album INFIDELS in 1983. This song is crammed with Biblical allusions, the primary warning is about the perils of vanity. In verses 4 & 5 Dylan directly condemns those false prophets who misuse religion and faith, abuse trust, hoodwink the gullible, all in the pursuit of earthly riches. These people prosper in this world without facing judgment but as the song's chorus insists there is a price to be paid, eventually and irrevocably, when "the hot iron blows" and when "the foot of pride comes down" as it will - "ain't no going back."
